The Ballmer Institute at the University of Oregon, along with Connie and Steve Ballmer, have been named as the winners of the 2023 Distinguished Friend to Behavior Therapy Award.

The Ballmer Institute completes the first offering of a graduate course microcredential created in response to a desire from educators to learn new techniques and tools that can be used in the classroom to help meet the growing behavioral health needs of their students.

The Ballmer Institute is awarded a $50,000 grant from Cambia Health Foundation. This grant will support the Ballmer Institute’s work to develop community advisory boards and create formal structures to allow for ongoing feedback and input from community stakeholders about the child behavioral health training program.

The Ballmer Institute Scholarship Program is launched, providing funding for tuition and room and board for scholarship recipients during their time at the UO.

The existing graduate course sequence in child behavioral health receives approval from the Graduate Council as the university’s first graduate microcredential.

The Ballmer Institute for Children’s Behavioral Health is launched with the philanthropic support of Connie and Steve Ballmer of the Ballmer Group.
Dr. Randy Kamphaus is announced as acting executive director.

(Then) Provost Patrick Phillips convenes a panel of faculty experts from the College of Education and Department of Psychology and administrators to create a bold vision for improving the behavioral health of youth.
