Transferring to the Ballmer Institute

Considering transferring to the Ballmer Institute? Our program is designed to welcome and support transfer students.

The Child Behavioral Health program allows students to complete their first two years at any institution before beginning their final two years of specialized training at the Ballmer Institute on UO Portland’s new northeast campus.

During your first two years of study at your transfer institution, you will need to:

Meet UO's transfer admission requirements and complete UO’s core education requirements.
To be admitted to UO, transfer students must meet the following requirements, described here.   All students who receive a bachelor's degree (BA or BS) at UO must complete a core set of courses, described here.

Complete pre-major courses. Our described here.   introduces you to the foundational aspects of our training program across three domains: psychology and human services; diversity, equity, and inclusion; and child/human development.

Transfer Tools

We know that transferring can be complex, which is why the UO has numerous agreements with community colleges in the Pacific Northwest. These agreements help simplify the transfer process. If your college is not listed, you can use the Transfer Evaluation System to determine how your courses will transfer. If you need additional support on transferring, reach out to our admissions office at admissions@uoregon.edu

To support completion of the child behavioral health pre-major core curriculum, we have collaborated with our Partner Transfer Institutions to identify courses that meet these pre-major course requirements. If your institution is not on this list, you can use the Transfer Evaluation System to identify courses at your institution that meet our pre-major course requirements. Or, you can reach out to us at ballmerinstitute@uoregon.edu for more support.

Next Steps

We encourage you to review our Undergraduate Admissions page for the most up-to-date information on our admission process.

If you still have questions or just want to learn more, contact our advising team at ballmerinstitute@uoregon.edu.
