The Ballmer Institute for Children's Behavioral Health has brought together twelve of the nation's top minds in youth behavioral health to help us create a national model for a new bachelor's level profession - the child behavioral health specialist. This innovative new role aims to expand access to high-quality mental health support for children and families by creating the nation’s first bachelor’s level profession capable of delivering evidence-based early identification and prevention services for common youth mental health problems.
The National Behavioral Health Advisory Board will provide consultation and input to Ballmer Institute leadership on a number of issues relevant to creating this new behavioral health profession. These include the structure and content of our training program, including the curriculum and applied practice experiences; our approach to training in culturally responsive and inclusive practices; the credentialing, ongoing supervision, and scope of practice for the new profession; the design of our program evaluation; and plans for scaling and dissemination of the training program.
