The Ballmer Insitute for Children's Behavioral Health has brought together twelve of the nation's top minds in behavioral and mental health to help us create a national model for the child behavioral health specialist position. This innovative new role aims to help address current workforce shortages by creating the nation’s first bachelor’s level personnel to deliver evidence-based early identification and prevention services for common youth mental health problems.
The National Behavioral Health Advisory Board will provide consultation and input to Ballmer Institute leadership on a number of issues relevant to creating this new behavioral health profession. These include the structure and content of our training program, which encompasses the curriculum and applied practice experiences; our approach to training in culturally responsive and inclusive practices; the credentialing, ongoing supervision, and scope of practice for the new profession we are creating; the design of our program evaluation; and plans for scaling and dissemination of the training program.
