From the nation's first undergraduate degree in child behavioral health to graduate training for working educators, the Ballmer Institute prepares professionals to support youth and families before challenges escalate into crises.
Undergraduate Degree
Bachelor's degree in Child Behavioral Health
The Ballmer Institute at UO Portland offers the nation's first undergraduate degree in child behavioral health. Students spent their first two years in Eugene or another institution before completing the degree in Portland.
Coursework in evidence-based approaches pairs with supervised practicum experience in schools, health care settings, and community organizations. Graduates are eligible to pursue licensure in Oregon as a Behavioral Health and Wellness Practitioner (beginning in 2027).

graduate microcredential
The Ballmer Institute has trained XX educators and youth-serving professionals through the University of Oregon's graduate microcredential in child behavioral health—a three-course online program built for working professionals.
The program is being redesigned for the 2027–28 academic year and is not accepting applications. Information about the redesign will be posted here as it becomes available.
